DATES COVERED
The database
covers largely 1600 - 1900, but some
records are held outside these
parameters. I hold some records,
passed to me by fellow researchers,
which fall within the last 100 years.
I will not pass any of this
information on without the express
permission of the provider of the
information. This obviously excludes
publicly available records, such as
entries from the National Index for
Wills, GRO entries, Trade Directories
and other such published works,
together with information available to
all via the Internet.
The types and
numbers of records held at present is
as follows :-

DISTRIBUTION
OF RECORDS BY COUNTRY/COUNTY/STATE
The number of records held has now
grown to a very large size, and to
produce a chart of distribution by
county/state is now a little time (and
space) consuming. If you are
interested in learning more about
particular county coverage please
contact me. An analysis of coverage in
both 1881 and 1999 can be viewed HERE.

My
thanks to the many people who have contributed
to the database by sending details of the
Preece entries in their own families or simply
noted during research into other names.
In
addition, thanks must go to all those people,
both present and past, who have given many
hours to transcription projects, and therefore
allow easier access to many records, such as
Parish Registers and Census extracts.
If
you are interested in getting involved in
transcription projects, please click
here. If you have days to spare, or just
an hour or two, your efforts will be
gratefully received. In some cases you can
help wherever you may be in the world.

RECORDS ON-LINE
Due to
the complexities involved, and the time, I
have not set up access to my database in
full on-line. In addition, many of the
records I have extracted are from resources
such as the IGI, which can easily be
searched on-line elsewhere - the aim of my
site is to bring all such resources within
one database. If you wish to search the
database send me a request via the form provided.
My aim is to place the less easily obtained
entries on-line.
Due to the growing number of record now
available on line, a separate page has been
set up - follow the link below to view the
latest list of available records.

Further data will be added, with the
intention to place war death information on
here in the near future. Details of Preece
families or individuals emigrating is now
underway, and a section linking records of
those emigrating to records in England is in
the planning stage.

PLEA FOR
HELP/ADDITIONS!
|
|
The database continues
to grow, and I have a constant stream
of new records to enter. However, I am
always on the lookout for more,
particularly parish register entries
to match with GRO entries.
All contributions
welcome - if you would like to be
acknowledged here on the site please
do let me know.
